This question was on the ballot in PA.
"Shall the Pennsylvania Constitution be amended to require that justices of the Supreme Court, judges, and magisterial district judges be retired on the last day of the calendar year in which they attain the age of 75 years?"
If you voted YES then you had just voted to EXTEND the retirement age from the current 70 to 75. Trick question if you're not paying attention. I voiced my displeasure to a representative at the polling place and he said he just heard about it that morning and agreed that it's a trick question.
Naturally, the way it's worded it sounds like it's asking if you agree to an age limit. Of course it passed with no problem. So now we'll have judges older than dirt on the PA Supreme Court.
I only voted no only because I had read about this question online about 2 hours before I voted.

How many open bench positions are unfilled in Pa.? Many federal benches are vacant due to the existing congressional party line grid lock. Are they trying to retain judges as opposed to trying to fill seats being held up in committee?
