I am a complete idiot. In the last month my game has been better than ever- shot my lowest score ever and dropped my handicap 2.7 points. On top of this I have a once in a lifetime golf trip next week.

So what did I do?

I had a golf lesson. Round after golf lesson was a mess.

If you don't feel your game is worthy of playing Pine Valley and Merion just let me know. I'll be happy to fill in for you.

Nah I will probably just ride around in the cart and watch my buddies play.

Why did you get a lesson? Did someone hold a gun up to your head?

I guess my thought was- I am swinging the club really great right now and I thought I could see and understand what I am doing well.

To be fair the one issue according to GolfTec was that I was bent over a bit too much. They wanted me to stand taller and they wanted my hands a bit higher.

The thing is I agree that it is technically better, but that tweak messed with me something fierce.

As a future PGA professional, and from what I've learned from those who I've talked to that teach, I'm going to approach my teachings in such cases like yours as follows: "I'm playing great right now. Just set a course record, best I've ever swung the club. I just want to see and understand what I'm doing well." I'd observe, see what's being done well, tell the student said information, and not give an ounce of something worth critiquing. I wouldn't do anything to mess with what the student has going.

I'd be curious to know what the person at GolfTec was trying to accomplish exactly. If it's not broke, don't fix it, is a saying to live by. Especially in the golf world because of how much golfers seem to enjoy tinkering. I get the fact every golfer could always be doing better, no matter how satisfied they are, but if you said all you wanted was to understand what you're doing well, the person who gave you that lesson didn't do his or her job.

He clearly wanted to tell me what I could do to be perfectly set up. That is my one grind with GolfTec. It is a lot of looking at your set-up and swing and comparing you to a professional golfer.

Definitely. I learned from a guy in Denver 5-6 years ago at a location. Anyone is bound to learn something, but it's better off for newer players to get some basics incorporated in them and get off on the right foot.

Well, the Internet is full of surprises: I even see that one guy admitted on there that he is an idiot! What the world comes down to?
