That's a terrible pun on a serious event I realize, at least the dog is safe...

When I was there this past March I asked a local what they did when a gator was located in one of their ponds or canals. It seemed no matter which course I played there was a gator in each pond or canal. He responded that nothing was done as they are a protected species. Obviously something tragic has to happen before they are removed.

I'd fight the gator to save a child, but they got plenty of free dogs down at the no kill shelter. I also don't make a practice of walking a dog or allowing my children to play near gator infested waters.

Yeah... we got deer that are very comfortable around people at Rancocas. Don't think I want anything to do with 'friendly' gators!

Saw a gator in Houston last month which was my first real-life experience with one. Got about 10 yards from it, took my pictures, admired it, and moved on. They're cool, but like any dangerous animal they should be admired from a distance. Like Vince said, living so close to them and allowing your pets/children to get so close to them is their own fault.

My son and I stepped on one at 0530 in the morning in an airboat trail in the everglades. He was laying on the bottom in knee deep water. he came busting out kike a tarpon. Must have been snoozing. Now we carry long sticks to poke the water ahead of us.
