Why are old or inactive members no cleared from each club? I notice that 60% of the people on first page of my club have not posted scores in several years (some as far back as 2013).

Your club chairperson should be proactive and remove these inactive members from your club. If nothing is done, they will remain there forever. The USGA has requirements for membership. If they aren't met, then the member should be removed.

You can always look into taking over the chairman duties and trying to establish a legitimate club.

The best a "chairperson" can do with this site is mark them as Inactive. I've made requests to USHandicap support to remove members who do not meet certain qualifications set forth by USGA and by our local rules, but they have told me - indirectly - that I'm not allowed to remove members from the roster.

I'll say that again.. I'm the chairperson for the club - and I'm not allowed to remove members from the club I'm a chairperson of.

Technically - it doesn't really matter unless they enter a tournament and the tournament gets in touch with me to verify the validity of their handicap. I just need something to complain about every once and a while.

When I was chairman, I made them inactive. If they tried to rejoin again, I sent them a message asking them to join another club as there are several in our area. If that didn't work, I requested that they be placed in another club. Never got a message that stated that I couldn't remove members from the club. I've never had a problem with USHandicap in that regard.
